Simply thought the game was about Chloe's backstory and connected somehow to S1. It's neither, so I was pretty disappointed about it. You should play Life is Strange -> BtS -> Farewell (if you got the bonus episode) and then LiS2 if you're interested in this story. My tip, always play or watch how it in release order.
